Nowadays no contemporary art venue of any significance can be considered without first involving a curator. A curator’s engagement or at least signature is more crucial to the world of contemporary art now than ever before. This is something that has dissolved some old discourses and at the same time creating new ones. The definition of the curator is being explored constantly, creating new ways of thinking about and working with art. But like every development, this creates new problems that need to be dealt with. Due to this development, the numbers of curatorial courses have been growing rapidly over the last decade in various parts of the world. By constantly challenging and reshaping its format, the need for a critical survey is of utmost importance.

Curatorial Education Network is an on-line database in which each course hosts its own part. Ongoing interviews and discussions with former participants and course managers will be constantly updated. The website will thus function as an overview of the past, present and future in the education of curating. It also addresses the necessity of the collaborative element.
